Student Trips to Krakow

Often cited as one of Europe’s most beautiful cities, Krakow is a perfect blend of the old mixed in with the new. It’s a historic city with a troubled past, but after the horrors endured; now stands a beautiful and endearing city that offers amazing learning and cultural experiences for your students.

The Old Town is one of the few medieval cities in Europe that escaped destruction in the second world war. Nowadays, it’s famed for its cobbled streets and stunning gothic churches. In the main square stands one of the most important religious buildings in Poland, St Mary’s Basilica, where the city’s famous bugle call is played on the hour every hour.

In the centre of the Old Town, is the Sukiennice building, which hosts a museum full of awe-inspiring paintings and sculptures, with fine examples of 19th century Polish art.

In the bustling centre of Krakow, there’s a wealth of eateries with restaurants serving international cuisine, milk bars (or ‘bar mleczny’ in Polish) serving traditional Polish cuisine and trendy coffee shops on almost every corner.

Outside of the centre of Krakow, no visit would be complete without a visit to Auschwitz. Now a museum, Auschwitz serves as a an emotional reminder of the horrors of Hitler’s rule. A visit will give your students a fuller understanding of the terrible events that unfolded during Nazi reign.

Putting its past to one side, Krakow is now one of the up-and-coming destinations in Europe; and thanks to its architecture, culture and historical relevance, it makes for an exciting and interesting study destination.
