Cultural College Trips & Tours to Morocco
For a truly memorable educational trip, Morocco has to be one of the top destinations for a cultural study tour. From the Atlas Mountains, through sandy desert to its rugged coastline, via the bustling cities of Marrakesh and Casablanca, there is something to inspire students of a variety of subjects.
Morocco is famed for its huge red-washed walls, streets lined with orange trees and in the labyrinth of the souk, a great mixture of Arab, Berber, black African and European influences have created what is arguably one of Africa’s most exciting and diverse countries.
A student trip to Morocco will open the doors for students to discover the Sahara desert, the largest desert on earth which covers the South East of Morocco, displaying dramatic dunes, and home to some very small communities on the outskirts of the desert.

Day Two - Atlas Mountains Discovery Day
Formed when Africa and America collided, the mountains were once a chain rivalling today’s Himalayas. They have been home to a number of plant and animal species unique in Africa, some now extinct.
Meet your mountain guide and depart on minibuses to the Ighighayne river valley to reach the rural market village of Asni and consider the irrigation and drainage systems. Observe the magnificent scenery, a vast array of vegetation, coloured rock cliffs, mountain streams, Berber villages and local mountain people.
Continue to the town of Imlil, a small village 1,740m above sea level and the centre of mountain tourism. Imlil is at the end of a tarmac road, so you will continue on foot, crossing villages and fantastic observation points of the surrounding landscape. You’ll climb up a trail following the path to Douar Armed (1,900m), where you’ll have the chance to stop for a delicious tagine lunch, observe a traditional Moroccan tea ceremony, and take in panoramic views of the valley.
You’ll then cross the river and continue along a path through rural villages and changing landscapes before returning to Imlil and transferring by coach to Marrakech. Your Mountain Guide will explain the irrigation and drainage systems, agriculture and local way of life. Escorted mules can carry any bags or water for your group. A truly memorable experience.
Evening: Evening meal and free time.
Day Three - Tizi-n-Tichka Pass & Farm Visit
The Door to the Desert with a Nomad Tent Stopover
You’ll depart early in 4x4 vehicles to the region of Ouarzazate through the High Atlas Mountains with a parade of varied landscapes and enchanting villages. On your journey, you’ll stop off at the high point of the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass, located at 2,260m. This is the highest road point in Morocco and offers stunning views.
Your group will then descend through the village of Sidi Ahmed before visiting a fascinating village farm to study the problems and methods of farming in a dry environment. Students will have a brief tour of the village including a communal bakery before enjoying a picnic under the shade of olive trees.
Evening: Evening meal and free time
They’ll then observe the rare production of health supplements and hear about their trade in Europe before departing to the ancient Berber village of Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO site which has been made famous in films such as Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. A short visit to the base of the village may also be possible before arriving at your traditional nomad tent accommodation (hotel option available) on the edge of this historic location, returning in your 4x4 vehicles the following morning.
Evening: Evening meal, free time
Day Four - Marrakech Exploration Day
A great day to absorb your group in local culture. Your guide will take you on a tour of Marrakech, ‘The Pearl of the South’, firstly visiting the gardens of Menara, including the lake where several canal systems meet and the water is used to irrigate the surrounding gardens, olive groves and orchards.
Next, visit the Bahia Palace and gardens built in the late 19th century, intended to be the greatest palace of its time, before a tour of the beautiful Saadian tombs which date back to 1578, a major attraction for tourists. Students can then enjoy their picnic lunch in the Koutoubia gardens, before strolling through the souks and exploring the various districts of the Medina (Old Town).
The tour will end with time at Djemaa El Fna square as it comes to life with stalls, snake charmers, acrobats, monkey trainers, and storytellers, before retiring to your accommodation.
