Overlooking the east of the city, is the Unesco World Heritage Site, Buda Castle. Originally built in the 13^th century, this building has undergone numerous architectural changes and now boasts a unique combination of medieval, Baroque and modernist styles.

Budapest has earned itself the nickname, the ‘City of Spas’ due to the abundance of thermal and medicinal water springs, dotted around the city. Your visit to Hungary, and a school trip to Budapest in particular, just wouldn’t be complete without visiting one of the city’s therapeutic thermal spas.

To the east of the capital, is the small yet exuberant town of Eger. Boasting cobbled streets and a fortress, this town has a social atmosphere that belies its small size; and in turn makes it a fantastic alternative to the bustling capital city.
